The surface color ranges from pink to red or purple, depending on the duration of the lesion 3. Therefore, EG is an inflammatory reaction 1,2.Ĭlinically, EG presents as a smooth or lobulated exophytic lesion with pedunculated or sessile base. The tissue growth represents a response to the presence of bone spicules or tooth fragments, thus resulting in the formation of granulation as a way of trying to repair or cure the injured site. Keywords: Gingival Diseases Child Tooth Extraction.Įpulis granulomatosa (EG) is a vascular lesion characterized by granulation tissue growth in a recently extracted tooth socket. CONCLUSION: The patient's recovery was uneventful, and no signs of local recurrence could be observed up to this date. Diagnosis of granulomatous epulis was confirmed after histopathological examination performed through excisional biopsy. CASE REPORT: A 5-year-old boy claiming about an exophytic lesion in the alveolar mucosa at the anterior region of the mandible was noticed after deciduous lower right central incisor tooth extraction. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present study was to report an illustrative case of epulis granulomatosa occurring after tooth extraction in a pediatric patient. Excisional biopsy stands as its gold-standard treatment followed by histopathological analysis in order to establish the diagnosis. It can be misdiagnosed with other lesions that have similar clinical appearances, such as foreign body and pyogenic granuloma. INTRODUCTION: Epulis granulomatosa is a post-surgical lesion emanating from an extraction socket. I hope that i help the next dude with this.Valvano BM, Rodrigues BTG, Romañach MJ, Benevenuto-Andrade BA, Israel MS. 3 tooth roots came out ezcepted one root that broke from the teeth (he drill it out at the time) The only teeth that the root broke of, it's the only one that didn't have a piece of bone sticking out. The extraction was difficult, my tooth wasn't coming of by itself. My dentist only seen it happend once in his life time and i was the seconde casse. Apparently these casses of bones spicules coming out is really rare. One on the upper right and the other on the upper left gum these where the most painful. So i thought the complications where over but no 3 to 4 weeks later i had 2 more pieces sticking out. There was some little pieces i was able to break off and pull out but you just have to get them drill out!! It's extremely painful when the spicules are expose the nerve pain gets to your brain. When you have a bone sticking out of your gum, you can't stop playing with it and trying to pull it out. The first 3 weeks after extraction, i had one piece sticking out of my letf lower gum i went to my dentist and got him to drill it out. About 8 months ago i've got my four wisdom teeth pull out and YES i had bones spicules sticking out of my gums! The complications occured even 2 months after the extraction.
